Message of Hope

In the studio of the painter Antonín Vojtek in southern Moravia in Stará Břeclav, there has been talk of his idea for a long time. His dream was not born easily. Antonín Vojtek contemplated for months on how to give it a physical form and how to devise it so that a body would be created to serve his idea for another 100 years. Since we couldn't find another option, he embarked on creating the golden casket himself. A friendly carpentry company took care of placing the golden object in a wooden chest, specially made for this purpose. We also devoted ourselves to the artistic aspect of the entire object. We have now completed one stage and are in the period of fine-tuning the formal aspect of the Message of Hope. Fortunately, during the last months, we found amazing collaborators by fate's guidance. Without them, we could not send the Message of Hope into the world. In these days, the first reports have appeared in the media, and work is underway on the project details. We believe that nothing will stop us now, and in November 2021, you can personally come and see it. We plan that initially, the golden entity with the casket will be exhibited in Gallery 99 in Břeclav, and we will inform you in time about its further journey.

How to Send a Letter a Hundred Years into the Future?

1. Prepare Your Letter
Take a moment, think about what you would like to say to the people who will walk this planet a hundred years from now. Your letter, your words will be delivered to your future family members or friends. Introduce yourself, write about your thoughts on the current situation, how you envision the future. You can share a secret, a story, a family recipe, or even attach a small item like a drawing, a photograph, or any other trinket. There are no limits to your imagination. It's important that your entire message fits into an envelope with dimensions of 14 × 3 cm.

2. Forward "Towards Us"
Do you have your message ready in an envelope? You can now "send" it to the future. Come with the letter to the location where our time capsule Message of Hope is located. At the moment, it's Gallery 99 in Břeclav on Slovácká Street. However, it's expected that our capsule will travel to other towns and cities. The letter must be placed in the mailbox in person; you can't send it by mail or email as it would disrupt the ritual and a certain charm. But don't worry, when you make a trip to us, you can also look around the gallery, see the time capsule itself, and take a walk in the beautiful surroundings, taking a moment to pause in the daily rush, which is also what this project is about.

3. The Letter is on its Way
Insert your envelope, clearly stating yourself as the addressee, through the opening in the capsule. On-site, you will receive a certificate with a reserved space for a future holder. Fill in your name and the name of the person to whom you want to pass the certificate. This is an important step, so think it over carefully. The person to whom you pass the certificate will then proceed similarly and pass on their baton. As a backup, a chronicle will be kept, where participants in the project will be recorded. This whole process is necessarily associated with a handling fee of five hundred crowns, or better yet, "postage." When "sending" your message, you must pay this fee, and this "postage" will be used to ensure that our society takes care of the project for the next hundred years, allowing everything to proceed successfully. You can pay in cash on-site or transfer it to the company's account.

4. What Will Be in a Hundred Years?
What will be in a hundred years? No one, of course, knows for certain, and that's the magic of it with a touch of mystery. In a hundred years (tentatively on November 21, 2121), the capsule should be opened, and certificate holders will be invited to retrieve their letters. This will create a meeting of people who likely don't know each other but are connected by our project and the fact that their ancestors or predecessors thought of them and participated in this "game." If those who receive the letters agree, a publication may also be created. Information about the planned meeting will be conveyed using current technologies; currently, information will be provided on Facebook/website, and in the future, if these media become obsolete, the information will be transferred by the company.
